Event Preview: Test The Lungs Season Opener at Green Acres

The Test the Lungs Season Opener Race Website.

The XC Ski racing season is getting an early start this winter of 2010 -2011. With the Elm Creek Wednesday night series successfully starting on Wednesday, December 1 and the first weekend race happening tomorrow, December 4 - we are off to the races!

Tomorrow's event is happening at the all new XC venue called Green Acres.
Green Acres is in Lake Elmo, east of St. Paul, just south of Hwy 36. The venue is one of 6 places in the Midwest that I can think of with 2.5k of good snow making for Nordic Skiers. As a bonus, this is groomed with top of the line Pisten Bulley groomers!

So, tomorrow's "
Test The Lungs Season Opener" Race will be a 10k skate for citizen skiers and 5k for high school racers. The mass start will blast off at 10AM sharp. Expect some challenging terrain on this course, including "the wall" that many Cyclo Cross racers may be familiar with from this fall's event there.

An interesting twist on this event is that after the race is over, there will be free screening to see if you're affected by exercise induced asthma - a condition that many XC skiers are affected by.

See you there!
