Event Description:

The St. Croix Valley not only offers some of the premier mountain biking in the Midwest but it is also one of the officially designated Important Bird Areas (IBA). It is one of 7,500 worldwide sites. The IBA is a global effort to identify and conserve areas that are vital to birds and other biodiversity.

Join, naturalist Tom Anderson on Saturday, May 18th at 7:30 for a unique opportunity to blend a relaxing mountain bike ride with birding. Both of these are among the fastest growing sports in the country.

With the spring migration underway, the diverse wild land of Rock Creek Farm, just north of St. Croix Falls, offers great birding opportunities. The intent is not to break a beastly sweat, instead we will cycle and make frequent stops to check out bird songs and the birds themselves.

We will finish up by 10:30 AM.

These feathered natives are important members of your community, come out and get to know them!

Equipment needed: Mountain Bike as well as a daypack with rain gear,

binoculars would be great, a bird book, water and a snack.
