Tammi's Tough Sasquatch #6 Route

Boy, Tammi sure has done a great job designing tough running routes for this season! This one is going to be absolutely beautiful! I made a semi-decent map, though it's probably not the best for navigation. You can click in on a larger version here. Also, you can check the Strava data here (note, you have to be logged into Strava to make that link work)--I guess we're doing a good job funneling more users to Strava :). The distance ended up being 14 miles and I talked Tammi out of adding 2 more (whew...).

As per usual, Tammi is going to be marking the course with chalk so hopefully we won't have anyone get lost. However, if you do get lost, just try to make it back to the river then go North until you hit Lion's park. Back in the old days, Frank and I used to get half our training done on days we got lost and were thus obligated to do an extra 150 or so miles.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! Here's that awesome grill image again because it cracks me up (and every time I grill it looks like this):

Sasquatch Dash Potluck and Season Finale, Saturday, Sept. 2nd!

Hello Everyone!
That's right, the end of Sasquatch season is upon us! I always enjoy the season finale as I've found our runner friends tend to prepare some pretty spectacular dishes for the pot luck afterwards. It's fun to chill at Lion's Park and celebrate the beginning of fall. Oh, and the run is kind of fun too.

As always Tammi has a spectacular course planned, but her phone broke so she hasn't sent me the Strava data yet. I'll add it to this post as soon as I get it. The course will be about 13 miles and Sasquatch points double for the end of the year. Feel free to come and run as little or as much of the course as you like.

We're fresh back from Peru so I'm bringing up my wife and kids to play in the park. I want to get some runner photos as well for a potential article for Silent Sports, so make sure you wear your Cyclova singlets!

It will be great to see everyone on Saturday at Lion's Park at 9AM! Bring a dish, bring a friend but most importantly bring yourself!

The Wisconsin DNR needs to Hear from Cyclists!

Hello Everyone!
A DNR survey is making the rounds to give an indication how much demand there is for bicycle trails (paved and unpaved), cross country skiing, and other silent sports. We'd like to make sure that your voice is represented, so please fill out the survey.  There is an option late in the survey to make a specific comment and I mentioned that I'd prefer to see the Stower 7 Lakes Trail and the Gandy Dancer Trail remain non-motorized.

For more information on the survey, check out this article (and share it please) from the Wisconsin Bike Fed.

Sasquatch #5 Write-Up

Hey Everyone!
Here's Tammi's report on Sasquatch #5. Remember Sasquatch #6 is coming soon. That's the pot-luck at Lion's park and we hope to see everyone to celebrate the end of Sasquatch season! Cheers!

Well with only one Sasquatch run left for the season, this run had to be longer than the others to prepare for that final long tough one right? Greg had the idea for a route and I ran it to see if it would be long and tough enough and yep it was good.

Then comes the work of marking the trail so no one gets lost..  I marked it to what I thought was ok...

Saturday morning rolls around and not many people were brave enough to try our course I guess.  Only 7 runners showed up but that's enough for a run by all means.  Easy to account for everyone at the end right?  AS usual Greg takes off way ahead of everyone followed closely by Steve Clark.  Steve took his own route.  Along with Jamey Sotis.  The marked Sasquatch route is just a suggested route right?

Steve Meyer ran 6 miles despite coming off of a long foot injury so was just glad to be running again.  One way or another we all managed to make it back to the overlook after a beautiful run through the interstate parks of WI and MN with Greg leading the way as usual.

And yes, some managed to get lost on my poorly marked trails.  Apparently blue chalk don't work well on blue trap rock...Who knew?  Orange chalk it is for the final one.

So as I'm trying to figure out ideas and trails for the final distance, if you have a certain trail you wan to to run, let me know and I can try to incorporate it into the 25K final Sasquatch run on Sept. 2nd!

Sasquatch Dash #5, Sat. August 12th, 9AM

Hey Everyone!
Q: What's faster than a speeding bullet?
A: The passage of summer

Can you believe it's already the penultimate Sasquatch run (I so rarely get to use the word "penultimate")? Tammi has done a fantastic job taking over the series from Mullin, although she seems to like to punish us all a little bit more. This Saturday is no different as Tammi has a 10 mile course in mind. As always, come for the company and the fun, run as much or as little of the designated course as you wish!  Remember a 3 mile morning run is better than a ZERO mile morning run, so lace 'em up and get out the door!

Tammi will inform you how the trail is marked at the pre-run briefing.

Course details are available on Strava here (Tammi included a small adjustment to this route in text): https://www.strava.com/activities/1124342555
It will be slightly different than this. Instead of going on the road back up, I'm going to mark it to go back up the meadow valley and horizon rock trail but it will lead to same spot going into MN and will be about 10.5 ish miles.

See y'all Saturday!
