Liebner Takes 1st & 3rd in Argentina--Will Present at Cyclova Sunday

Andy Liebner of US Ski Pole Company is having a busy week! After taking 1st and 3rd place in a pair of FIS races in Argentina, he hopped on a plane to come give a rollerski clinic at CyclovaXC. The clinic is free to the public and skiers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Just be at Cyclova Sunday, Sept. 17th at 9AM. Here are the details on his recent races:

International Ski Federation (FIS) Cross Country Ski Races in Bariloche, Argentina.
11 SEP 2017 10 Kilometer Classic event
12 SEP 2017 10 Kilometer Freestyle event

Andy Liebner, of Soldotna Alaska, now residing in Cheboygan, Michigan claimed first place victory in the 10K Classic on Monday. 5 Nations were present and competing.

In the 10k Classic, the temperature was 20’f and the tracks were crisp and dry. “It’s strange traveling in one day from summer, and immediately enter into winter. That’s what’s nice about our South American neighbors and the opposing seasons, from the continental US, we can fly in less than a day (remain in a similar time zone) and compete in international ski races on real snow.”

On Tuesday the 12th of September, Andy competed in the 10K Freestyle event and earned 3rd place. Only 9 seconds behind the winner, Andy was more than satisfied with his podium performance. Attributing his success to ‘experience and wisdom,’ in both events under the conditions and challenging terrain.

“I came here to coach an athlete and in doing so, I was recruited to enroll on the start list by my athlete and many others. Given the high altitude, and 2.5 Kilometer loop located on the top of a popular alpine ski mountain, there were some extremely fast, sharp corners to master. Most stayed on course, but some unfortunate skiers lost control and flew into deep snow over steep edges. I thought it was a fun, but challenging course. One of the most technically challenging courses I’ve ever skied. Courses like these add more variables beyond muscles and lungs that traditionally have the advantage in ski races.”

Andy is founder of the United States Ski Pole Company, located in Cheboygan, Michigan. In addition to accelerating his business he coaches privately out of passion and earned Olympic coaching status with Roberto Carcelen of Team Peru to Sochi 2014.
